The bulk of the information in this site has been compiled by Paul H. Freytag (Professor Emeritus, University of Kentucky, USA) in the last 40 years with minor additions by Marco Gaiani (Curator of Hemiptera, Universidad Central de Venezuela, Venezuela), specially for taxa described in the last 10 years. The original idea of putting this into a web accesible database was of Marco Gaiani, and the first version of the Neotropical Cicadellidae went on line in 2001. The classification schema (with minor modifiactions) and a great deal of recent information (up to 2010) comes from the 3I Interactive Keys and Taxonomic Databases
